Queen Adelaide is listed in White's Devon Directory (1850), the address is given as
Haven Bank and the resident, J. Hele.
The Exeter Flying Post printed a "for sale" notice for this pub on 27th August 1840. The Dutchess of Clarence married William IV and became Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Coberg and Menninghan in 1818. The Royal Clarence Hotel in Cathedral Yard is named after her, so the assumption is that this pub was too. Stuart Callon Copyright ©2002 |
